Public Training

What we offer

The Helio Health Training Institute offers a range of training to meet the needs of the professional mental health and recovery community. For practicing professionals, we offer certification and recertification classes across a range of topics, including motivational interviewing, trauma and grief, and ethics, approved for credit by NYS OASAS and NYSED for LMSW/LCSW and LMHC. Additionally, we offer CPR classes suitable for initial and recertification of both the general public and medical professionals.

Training Calendar

SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING AVAILABLE

The Helio Health Training Institute has scholarships available for training Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASACs) and Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPAs)

In order to be eligible for the program, a participant must:

-Currently reside in Onondaga or Oswego County.

-Demonstrate annual income eligibility.

-Provide a copy of high school diploma, GED, or TASC.

-Complete program application and pre-screening, where appropriate.

The first CASAC course dates are”

Round 1 CASAC-October 1, 2018 through January 11, 2019
Round 2 CASC-January 28, 2019 through April 26, 2019
Round 3 CASAC-May 13, 2019 through August 16, 2019

The first CRPA course dates are:

November 5, 2018 through November 16, 2018
January 28, 2019 through February 8, 2019
March 18, 2019 through March 29, 2019
May 6, 2019 through May 17, 2019

How to register

  • Registration for our classes is done through a third-party partner (Regpacks).
  • If you are looking to take a course other than CPR, CASAC certification, CASAC Review Course or Certified Peer Advocate Initial Certification Training, please select LMSW/LCSW, LMHC, and CASAC Recertification Courses from the “Choose course type” menu. This will bring up the list of trainings.
  • If your agency will be covering the cost of the training, there is an option at the bottom of the course selection page where you can indicate this. Please note that your registration is not completed until payment has been received.
  • Additionally, if you are registering for individual pieces or CASAC sections and not full sections, please contact the Helio Health training institute directly for registration information (training@helio.health).

Effective April 1, 2017, Helio Health is no longer accepting paper registrations for training.


CASAC and CRPA classes

For those looking to build a career in behavioral healthcare, we offer initial certification training for the NYS OASAS CASAC credential and for NYCB Certified Recovery Peer Advocates.
