Recovery Case Management I
at Alternative to Incarceration Program (ATIP)

Onondaga County

Program for individuals who have violated the terms of their probation as a result of ongoing addictions and/or mental health issues. Initially provides substance abuse assessments followed by intensive case management linking participants with appropriate substance abuse treatment, mental health services, and community supports with the goal of preventing re-incarceration. Case management includes making home visits, providing support for appointments, and encouraging critical life style changes. Referrals to RCM I from ATIP only.

Recovery Case Management II

Onondaga County

Designed to reduce pretrial detention of certain nonviolent offenders and certain indigent populations. Recovery Case Management II provides substance abuse assessment and case management before the disposition of legal cases. Substance abuse assessments are followed by intensive case management linking clients to appropriate substance abuse services, mental health services, and community services supports. Case management includes making home visits, providing support for appointments, and encouraging critical life style changes. Clients are referred by Pre-Trial Release and the Assigned Counsel Program only.

Potential clients: Must be charged with non-violent felonies or misdemeanors (No A, B, or C Felonies, No probation/parole). Open to adolescents with legal guardians, or those lacking family or other resources to assist in their release.

New Directions

Onondaga County

Located within and serving inmates of the Jamesville Correctional Facility, New Directions provides chemical dependency services including assessment, counseling, and discharge planning. Program works with other community and county agencies to coordinate service and ensure service needs are met for inmates prior to release.

Community Service Initiative (CSI)

Onondaga County

CSI is a community service program which refers individuals to not-for-profit agencies to complete volunteer hours as ordered by the Onondaga County Town Courts. Referrals are accepted through the legal system only.

CSI accesses the volunteer’s talents, abilities, physical/mental disabilities, criminal history, and other issues to ensure the best placement for the individual and the participating agencies. Volunteers are monitored and hours verified.

Forensic Evaluation Unit (FEU)

Oneida County

An alternative-to-incarceration/ diversion program for adults who are involved in the Oneida County criminal justice system and are struggling with mental illness, chemical dependency, intellectual or developmental disabilities, or other behavioral health challenges. Provides assessment and case management services in partnership with participants, courts, attorneys, and area providers.

Forensic Mental Health Unit (FMH)

Oneida County

Provides comprehensive forensic mental health programs within the 600 bed Oneida County Correctional Facility.
Programs include assessments, suicide prevention, adjustment monitoring, medication management and discharge planning.

Forensic Case Management (FCM)

Oneida County

The Forensic Case Management program works with inmates from the Oneida County Correctional Facility who have a need for community – based services upon their release from confinement. The FCM team consists of trained and experienced individuals who work in concert with the Forensic Mental Health staff and other community providers to ensure that individuals are afforded the community-based treatment interventions that are needed. Services include, but are not limited to: referral to the appropriate community provider, advocacy services to enhance participant compliance and success, follow-up with the provider, and on-going compliance monitoring.
